The Busan KCC Egis (Korean: 부산 KCC 이지스) is a professional basketball club based in Busan that competes in the Korean Basketball League.
History
The team was founded in March 1978 as the Hyundai Basketball Team, owned and sponsored by Hyundai. In 2001, the club, named Hyundai Gullivers at the time, relocated from Daejeon to Jeonju.
After 22 years in Jeonju, the KCC Egis relocated again in 2023, this time to Busan. It meant the return of professional basketball to Busan, after the KT Sonicboom had moved away just two years earlier. The Egis had requested the Korean Basketball League (KBL) to move after the city of Jeonju had promised to construct a new arena for the team six years earlier, but had not yet started the process of construction.
In May 2024, the Egis won their sixth KBL championship following a 4–1 win over the Suwon Sonicboom, becoming the first fifth-seeded team to win the title. Heo Ung was named Finals MVP.
KCC Egis je jedním z nejúspěšnějších týmů v historii KBL, s celkem 12 šampionáty, z toho 9 v řadě v letech 2009 až 2017. Tým vyhrál také 3 tituly Play-off KBL a 6 Pohárů korejských basketbalistů.
Klíčovými hráči současného týmu KCC Egis jsou naturalizovaný americký rozehrávač Ricardo Ratliffe a korejský střelec Lee Jung-hyun. Tým je znám svým rychlým tempem hry a agresivní obranou.
KCC Egis jsou pravidelnými účastníky Asijské basketbalové ligy mistrů (ABL), kde se čtyřikrát dostali do finále. Tým také reprezentoval Jižní Koreu na mistrovství světa FIBA v basketbalu v roce 2019.
